Looking out from the balcony,I saw an empty lot with ragged trees and some broken stonework. Thought it would make a nice painting. The painting took off on its own, day became night, a patch of dried grass sprouted lovers, the stonework evolved into a ruin from an old etching, and I became a voyeur.

I moved, and the lot grew into an apartment. The lovers went separate ways. Night became a gray dawn.
